Hi All!

Long time no blog. So much has happened since October. The biggest of which has been my decision to take some time off from school to re-focus my mind, re-energize my body, and re-ignite the passion I have in my heart for art, science, ideas, and the world.

I have been thinking a great deal about inspiration and fulfillment and what those words mean to me and how I pursue each one.

I have also been thinking a lot about human connectivity - thoughts that were echoed in a couple of TED talks I watched today. If you haven’t watched a TED talk before, I highly recommend going to watch one that interests you either here or via their iTunes podcasts. One of the talks I watched was about connectivity in information and the other about connecting optimists.

The talk about connecting optimists was of particular interest to me as it made me think about my own pursuits as an artist and about how information flows in all directions between artists, social activists, innovators, engineers, law makers, and everything in between.

How do we inspire others? And how do we push ideas circling around in our heads to a broader sphere outside of our social and professional circles? Where do we go when we have the beginning of an idea, or the end, but nothing else?

I wonder to myself and to anyone who reads this, given all of the tools at our disposal to be a global community, how do we create a genuinely interdisciplinary idea exchange? Can we connect two strangers across the world who are linked by nothing other than a curiosity?

I think we can. And the question I now entertain is where do we start?

If you have ideas, epiphanies, questions, or concerns, I encourage you to

Well! Somehow, without my knowledge, two months have passed. It has been a very busy time that has challenged my process, my aesthetic, and my artistic limits.

I have always known that New York is an amazing city, but living here, it’s easy to forget until the city smacks you in the face. Having the eat/sleep/school routine interrupted by a seemingly random street festival, a parade of zombies, or breakdancing kids on the subway is pretty fabulous. And what a gift it is to be in a city where people flock toward the arts. There is so much excitement toward creating innovative pieces in every medium. I’ve seen some great theatre and dance already, and I promise to not let school keep me too busy continue seeing great pieces.

I miss my friends and family very much. There’s always a period of adjustment in a new city before deep friendships are formed, and in the meantime, I’m having a nice time reminiscing about good times shared with the people I love.

But I have to hand it to Tisch, they have gathered some truly wonderful people into the design program here and I am excited to spend the next couple years with them.

Hi all!

I’ve decided to add a blog to my website to track all of my adventures in the world. I’m off to the opening night of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at The Stratford Shakespeare Festival, so I’ll keep this brief!

Welcome, and enjoy!
G
